If you’ve been following me on Twitter (click here to follow me!) you’ll know that I received a very special delivery a couple of days ago. As much as I’d have loved to rip it open and show the world I had some other stuff to take care of (you know that ‘work’ thing that pays my bills). I thought it would be fun to run a teaser campaign (posting some obscure images of my ‘delivery’) to see if anyone bit and what do you know – I had some bites!
Here are the two pictures I posted on twitter (both taken with my iPhone – my clients need not worry about the poor quality of the pictures – I don’t use my iPhone at weddings!):
Only one person managed to guess correctly, but for the sake of clarity, completeness and indeed humiliation, here is a summary of the guesses and comments I received:
Lou – it is not a heater, but you are correct, if Apple did produce a heater I would probably want one.
Jo – it is not a monitor, an Apple LED Cinema Display (which is also a monitor Jo), nor a XtremeMac XtremeHD 4 Port Switcher, nor an AirPort Extreme Base Station (and I do have 2 of those). People, do you see what Jo was trying to do here?
Craig – it is no longer in the box as the following pictures demonstrate!!!
I can now reveal that it is my new………. Apple Mac Pro!!! (That’s a computer Lou and Jo). It’s my new studio work horse – isn’t it gorgeous?
BTW if you’ve never understood what all the Mac/PC fuss is about, check out the Mac Ads, then do yourself a favour and Get A Mac!
Oh, on the left of that last picture you can also see my new Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks – I’ll wax lyrical about them in another post.
The rest of the country has been snowed in, snowed off or snowed out. Here the the North East of England life has been uninterrupted. However today we had proper snow – a full day of it and with enough light to go out and play after the kids had come home from school. Here are the results:
This is Josh’s snowman – he insisted on making his own.
Here is the snow-person (gender was not easy to identify) created my Mollie, Ellie, Beth and myself:
And here we are all together (picture by one of our very kind neighbours – just before Josh pelted him with a snowball – he still has to learn about ‘boundaries’!)
It snowed!! Yes! Ok, the snow was cold - very cold – but it looked so nice. Claire and I managed a bit of forward planning (wellies were brought to the wedding!).
Chris and his best man, Johnny, enjoyed a traditional shave at Bauhaus, Corbridge (01434 633111). Johnny was very stressed about his speech, although he needn’t have worried, it was great.
Claire looked stunning in her Benjamin Roberts wedding gown and although she had some lovely shoes, the brown wellies were definitely the most practical footwear for the weather.
The ceremony was conducted by Father Mark at Minster Acres Monastery (he was great, even if the names ‘Chris’ and ‘Claire’ were a little confusing!). After some brief pictures in the snow, we headed off to Close House Country Club and you know what – there was no snow!! 30 mins up the road and their was no snow! We did have to dodge the showers though, pretty evident when you look at the picture of the boys below!
Have a great honeymoon you two – I am more than a little jealous!
The spoof English heavy metal band is the brainchild of American actors Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest.
They first featured in the classic 1984 “mockumentary” This Is Spinal Tap and went on to record two albums.
Shearer, who these days voices several Simpsons characters, told BBC 5 Live: “It’ll be for download as well as on conventional media later this year.”
Spinal Tap recorded their last album, Break Like The Wind, in 1992.
The band briefly reformed two years ago for the Live Earth gig at Wembley Stadium in London.
Shearer, who portrays Tap’s bass player Derek Smalls said: “We’ve never recorded the song we did at Live Earth, Warmer Than Hell, and I think they (Spinal Tap) are trying to revisit their old success.
“Not that they were ever popular, maybe in their own universe.
“We’ll do a song called Gimme Some More Money, probably with some dubious results.”
If you have no idea who Spinal Tap are, take a look at this video from Youtube. These go to 11.
