22 Apr 2009Welcome Eva May

My sister gave birth to Eva May last night at 10.38pm.  She was 7lbs 10oz and is lovely.  They’re now at home, less than 24 hours old and Uncle Mark got stuck in with his camera – I suspect I may be taking a few more!

14 Feb 2009Of course it’s not a heater!

If you’ve been following me on Twitter (click here to follow me!) you’ll know that I received a very special delivery a couple of days ago.  As much as I’d have loved to rip it open and show the world I had some other stuff to take care of (you know that ‘work’ thing that pays my bills).  I thought it would be fun to run a teaser campaign (posting some obscure images of my ‘delivery’) to see if anyone bit and what do you know – I had some bites!

Here are the two pictures I posted on twitter (both taken with my iPhone – my clients need not worry about the poor quality of the pictures – I don’t use my iPhone at weddings!):

Only one person managed to guess correctly, but for the sake of clarity, completeness and indeed humiliation, here is a summary of the guesses and comments I received:

Lou – it is not a heater, but you are correct, if Apple did produce a heater I would probably want one.

Jo – it is not a monitor, an Apple LED Cinema Display (which is also a monitor Jo), nor a XtremeMac XtremeHD 4 Port Switcher, nor an AirPort Extreme Base Station (and I do have 2 of those).  People, do you see what Jo was trying to do here?

Craig – it is no longer in the box as the following pictures demonstrate!!!

I can now reveal that it is my new………. Apple Mac Pro!!! (That’s a computer Lou and Jo).  It’s my new studio work horse – isn’t it gorgeous?

BTW if you’ve never understood what all the Mac/PC fuss is about, check out the Mac Ads, then do yourself a favour and Get A Mac!

Oh, on the left of that last picture you can also see my new Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks – I’ll wax lyrical about them in another post.

6 Feb 2009The Tap returns!!

As reported by the BBC (so it must be true) Spinal Tap will be recording their first new material in 20 years.

The spoof English heavy metal band is the brainchild of American actors Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest.

They first featured in the classic 1984 “mockumentary” This Is Spinal Tap and went on to record two albums.

Shearer, who these days voices several Simpsons characters, told BBC 5 Live: “It’ll be for download as well as on conventional media later this year.”

Spinal Tap recorded their last album, Break Like The Wind, in 1992.

The band briefly reformed two years ago for the Live Earth gig at Wembley Stadium in London.

Shearer, who portrays Tap’s bass player Derek Smalls said: “We’ve never recorded the song we did at Live Earth, Warmer Than Hell, and I think they (Spinal Tap) are trying to revisit their old success.

“Not that they were ever popular, maybe in their own universe.

“We’ll do a song called Gimme Some More Money, probably with some dubious results.”

If you have no idea who Spinal Tap are, take a look at this video from Youtube.  These go to 11.

2 Feb 2009Yeah! Snow!!!

I can’t remember the last time it snowed like this – gorgeous white fluffy snow with blues skies and (some) sunshine.  I can remember the last time we had snow – it was the 19th December 2008 and everything ground to a halt.  The village school was shut but the snow was really slushy – you couldn’t do anything with it.

Today the snow is perfect for sledging and snowmen.  Is the school shut?  No!  Why doesn’t it snow at at weekends?
