Katy and Dan – Wedding Photography at Oulton Hall

It was a beautiful sunny day in Oulton, just outside Leeds when Katy and Dan were married at Oulton Hall – and it was a real privilege to be their wedding photographer. Incidentally, there’s a wonderful story of how Katy and Dan asked me to be their wedding photographer, which you can read in their pre-wedding blog post.

I started the day with Dan and the boys. Dan had arranged for the Leeds Harley Davidson Owners Club (Aire Valley UK) to provide some very unique transportation for himself! He couldn’t wipe the smile off his face – and my thanks go to Graham and Simon for their willingness to get involved in the pictures.

As per my instructions (from Katy) the wedding rings were photographed on genuine Yorkshire Stone (the garden wall), then I headed over to Oulton Hall for the rest of the daty.

Katy looked jaw-droppingly stunning in her Benjamin Roberts wedding gown, he bridesmaid looking (almost as) gorgeous in their beautiful brown dresses.

Vicky and her team at Oulton looked after everyone wonderfully and before we knew it, the sun was setting. I couldn’t resist grabbing some Contre-jour shots of Katy and Dan (I’m just showing off – it means ‘against daylight’, but don’t they look beautiful?).

The evening’s entertainment was provided by the phenomenally good Ding Dong Daddios (check them out on Facebook).

Victoria and Marcus – Wedding Photography at Wynyard Hall

The sun was shining and all was right with the world on Easter Monday as Victoria and Marcus were married at the beautiful Wynyard Hall Hotel.

The day began with Marcus and his boys getting ready at the hotel. Whilst they were (almost) capable of tying ther own ties and fastening waistcoats, all of the other arrangements were in the capable hands of Sarah Brookfield-Brewis of Notable Nuptials. Sarah worked hard behind the scenes along with Ian at Wynyard Hall to make sure that everything went without a hitch.

Victoria’s hair was styled by Lisa Cameron and make-up was beautifully applied by Leeanne Bennett. The journey to the chapel was in a Vintage Bus – a 1949 Bristol LG5 single decker to be precise, courtesy of the Aycliffe and District Bus Preservation Society – Victoria’s dad is a keen member – see if you can spot him in one of the pictures below!

Wynyard Hall has it’s own chapel and the service was conducted by the fabulously understanding Rev’d Lynda Gough (who very kindly mentioned me in her sermon – that’s a first!)

Afternoon tea and drinks on the lawn followed by dinner (with an Alice in Wonderland theme) rounded off an excellent day. A quiz during one of the speeches had the prize of a photograph with the royal couple (who were in disguise!) before we danced the night away to Chris Hilton’s Little Big Band whilst the photo-booth from Pergola kept everyone occupied and out of mischief.

Vicky and Martyn – The Pre-Wedding Shoot

Pre-wedding season is well underway and a few weeks ago I met up with the wonderful Vicky and Martyn for their pre-wedding shoot out at Saltburn by the Sea. The weather was great, so were they and the results were a fantastic collection of images.

Vicky and Martyn are getting Married next month at St Andrew’s Church, Houghton-le-Skerne, Darlington before heading over to the magical Crathorne Hall Hotel near Yarm.

It was gerat getting to know Vicky and Martyn – Vicky was a guest at a wedding I photographed a couple of years ago. Not only is she blonde and gorgeous, she’s also a Rocket Scientist! Really! Sorry Martyn, being an Optician is an important job and all that, but it’s not Rocket Science is it!

Marion and Tom – Wedding Day

What a beautiful day Marion and Tom had for their wedding at Crathorne Hall Hotel (just outside Yarm).

The day started in Darlington with Tom and the boys getting ready, then over to Appleton Whiske, where Marion grew up.

Marion’s stunning dress is a Maggie Sottero design from Poppy Bridal in Darlington.

The gorgeous little church of St Mary was full to the brim with wedding guests. The Ven Simon Golding gave a wonderful talk, likening marriage to a set of Sheep Shears (I must remember that one).

Glen and the team at Crathorne Hall had everything running smoothly (as always). The cake was made by Marion’s sister, Christine – I thought there was a new cake supplier on the block (perhaps in the future there might be!)

Everyone danced the night away to The Beatles Revolution – an amazingly good Beatles Tribute Band from Leeds.
